Born in Wadowice on May 18, 1920, St. John Paul II has become known as "The People's Pope". As Pope, he traveled to more than 104 countries. He visited Buffalo, New York twice as the cardinal of Krakow, Karol Woytyla--once in 1969 and a second time in 1976 (two years before being elected pope). We are proud to celebrate the legacy of St. John Paul II, the first Polish Pope. Join St. Stanislaus Parish, Mother Church of Polonia and Diocesan Shrine of St. John Paul II in celebrating his 100th Birthday. More information will be forthcoming!
