As we approach Holy Week and Easter and continue our fight against the Coronavirus, we recognize the importance of maintaining our spiritual growth and traditions. As restaurants, grocery stores, and pharmacies offer carry-out and drive-by services, Corpus Christi and St. Stanislaus Churches would like to offer a drive-by Easter Basket blessing and distribution of Palms on Holy Saturday, April 11. This, of course, is a non-traditional approach but it is a way of bringing some normalcy to our lives in a safe and acceptable manner.
CANCELED
The blessing of Easter Baskets and distribution of Palms will begin at Corpus Christi Church at 11:00 am. Cars should assemble in the church parking lot for a brief prayer. Following this blessing, the cars will proceed down Sears to Kent and stop in front of the church to receive a palm and personal blessing. Cars will then exit down Clark Street.
At 1:00 pm, the blessing of Easter Baskets and distribution of Palms will take place at St. Stanislaus Church. Cars should assemble in the church parking lot for a brief prayer. Following the blessing, the cars should exit the parking lot on Wilson, proceed down Paderewski to Townsend and stop in front of the church to receive a palm and a personal blessing. Cars will then exit down Peckham Street.
Father Michal Czyzewski and Father Jan Kolmega are offering this opportunity while maintaining safe distancing practices as outlined by the CDC. Easter represents Christ’s victory over death. With prayer, hope, and trust in the Lord, we can see this crisis through and rejoice in His resurrection and life anew. While neither facility can offer public Masses, St. Stanislaus maintains its tradition of the Polish radio Mass on Sundays at 12 noon at 101.7 FM.
